CareFlight On the Road, On the Farm and On the Lake
On the Road/On the Farm is an outreach program developed by CareFlight Air and Mobile Services in conjunction with the Trauma Program at Miami Valley Hospital. The program travels to different counties across the region to provide relevant education for EMS and pre-hospital care providers. Participants generally receive six to eight continuing education hours related to a variety of trauma topics. In addition, a trauma surgeon from Miami Valley Hospital’s Level I Trauma Program leads a Trauma Case Review, which features actual trauma cases transported from the host county to Miami Valley Hospital to further enhance their educational experience.
On the Farm and On the Lake focus specifically on farming/water accidents. Through lecture, hands-on simulation and a panel discussion, participants learn how to manage farm/lake accidents, the extrication tools required and priorities of patient care.
