Breast and Cervical Cancer Project

At Premier Community Health, we want to help remove barriers to wellness for women who are uninsured or underinsured. Eligible women in Southwest Ohio may qualify for free mammograms or Pap tests. Our specific goal with the Ohio department of health Breast and Cervical Cancer Project is for all women to be aware of the importance of screenings for breast and cervical cancer. Education, early detection, and early treatment are key factors in improving outcomes for women facing these challenges.

What Services Are Covered?

  • Clinical breast exams and self-examination education
  • Mammography (screening and diagnostic)
  • Facility fee and radiology fee (not including second reading by computer or radiology fee associated with computer reading)
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Fine needle aspiration
  • Surgical consultation
  • Breast biopsy (partial coverage only)
  • Breast MRI (must meet coverage criteria)
  • Pap smears
  • Colposcopy with or without biopsy
  • Endocervical curettage
  • Screening HPV with Pap test every five years
  • HPV reflex with abnormal Pap test

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible for free services under this program if you are an uninsured woman with an income at or below 300 percent of federal poverty guidelines, and if you fall into the following age categories:

  • 21-64 years of age for cervical screening and clinical breast exam
  • 40 years of age and older for mammography
  • 21-39 years of age for breast screening and diagnostics (for symptomatic or high-risk patients with a physician’s orders explaining the reason for the requested examination)
