Digital Minute: Telehealth Growth Puts Patients and Staff at the Center
By Walter Reiling, MD, system chief medical information officer, Premier Health; and Mandy Via, system director of access, referral management, and telehealth, Premier Health
With the 3rd annual Telehealth Awareness Week closing out last week, it’s important to recognize how telehealth has evolved into an essential part of our health care delivery. Since the pandemic, telehealth utilization has continued to increase, and patients expect telehealth as an option for receiving care.
At the center of the telehealth growth are our patients and staff. While telehealth started with patients getting connected for care, there are many different use cases. At Premier, a patient can use telehealth to connect with their care provider, have a video visit with a nurse for virtual admission in the hospital, or registration can be completed with the TeleAccess program.
This data tells a compelling story of resilience, adaptability, and forward-thinking. As we continue to innovate and expand our telehealth offerings, we are committed to extending health care access to our global communities with just one click.
At Premier Health, our vision is to inspire better health, and our mission is clear: We Care. We Teach. We Innovate. We Serve. Telehealth aligns perfectly with this mission, enabling us to care for patients in new and innovative ways, educate them on their health, and serve our communities more effectively.
As we commemorate Telehealth Awareness Week, let’s celebrate our progress and look forward to continuing our journey toward a healthier future for all.
