If you or a family member needs outpatient mental health or substance abuse services, Samaritan Behavioral Health, Inc. (SBHI) can help. For more than 50 years, our team of specialists have provided crisis care, suicide prevention services, assessment and counseling, and substance abuse services for individuals, families, and groups. We also serve children under age 6 with disruptive or aggressive behaviors, attention and hyperactivity disorders, trauma, autism, and developmental disorders.
About Us
Our history dates back to 1965 when Good Samaritan Hospital announced the creation of the Good Samaritan Community Mental Health Center. This facility was the first of its kind in the Dayton area.
Over 50 years later, our tradition of providing quality care to the community has remained strong. Our services have been consistently recognized for their creativity and for providing focused care for both children and adults.
Thanks to our dedicated team and timely access to care, we are fulfilling our mission every day. We remain deeply committed to being the leading provider of behavioral health services in the region and to enhancing the well-being of the communities we serve.
SBHI is partially funded by the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board for Montgomery County and the Preble County Mental Health and Recovery Board.
Why Samaritan Behavioral Health, Inc.?

SBHI is accredited through CARF. Attaining and maintaining CARF-accredited status requires significant effort, strong teamwork, and a commitment at all levels from an organization to provide quality services and to enhance the lives of the people it serves.
As a community mental health center, SBHI is licensed and certified with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
We have a strong relationship with local colleges and universities for the training of mental health and substance use professionals. We also serve as a training site for students working on a master’s degree in counseling or social work, as well as undergraduate degrees in social work and other related mental health fields.
