Head And Neck Cancer

We are Dayton’s first and only comprehensive head and neck cancer program, providing area residents a closer option for highly coordinated, multispecialty care. All aspects of care occur locally and eliminate long drives to other medical centers with similar programs. 

Our team treats all types and stages of head and neck cancer. We also treat benign (non-cancerous) tumors, since many of these also can affect functional and psychosocial aspects of your well-being, including speech, eating, and hearing. We also treat skin cancer in the head and neck region.

Our services range from diagnosis and treatment, including surgery, to rehabilitation, recovery, support services, and reconstructive plastic surgery in the head and neck (including procedures following cancer surgery, and to treat skin cancer wounds, trauma, and radiation-related wounds).

And we’re only the second program in Ohio to offer transoral robotic surgery (TORS), a minimally invasive approach for removing cancer and noncancerous head and neck tumors in areas of the throat that are difficult to reach with traditional surgery.

The care of patients referred to our program is coordinated by Sameep Kadakia, MD, FACS and Kazim Alwani, MD, our fellowship-trained head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgeons. They maintain close interdepartmental collaboration with all required specialties, including:
