All emergency and trauma center rooms are private and designed for the comfort and care of you and your family. Whenever possible, visitors can stay with you.
If a higher level of care is needed, CareFlight Air and Mobile provides transportation to Miami Valley Hospital and its Level I Trauma Center, or to another suitable facility.
Chest Pain Center
Atrium Medical Center is designated as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation from the American College of Cardiology. We use evidence-based procedures to speed up your treatment time in the critical early stages of a heart attack. This means we:
- Better monitor you when it is not initially clear if a coronary event is taking place
- Coordinate your care among:
- EMS
- Emergency trauma center team
- Cardiac cath lab
- Cardiology departments
Our Chest Pain Center Accreditation status means we achieve a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who present with symptoms of a heart attack.
Senior Emergency Center
This center delivers senior-friendly emergency care for older adults. The senior emergency room removes the bright lights and noise that can make a hospital emergency department confusing for seniors. To make emergency care more comfortable, we feature eight private rooms exclusively for senior patients, within Atrium's Emergency Trauma Center.
Senior-friendly amenities:
- Fall monitors
- Additional railings
- Non-skid floors
- Hearing assistance
- Dimmable lighting
- Soothing colors
- Reduced noise levels
- Separate waiting room for seniors’ families
- Staff specially trained in listening, assessing and addressing the needs of older adults
Our goal is to understand the full spectrum of a senior’s health care needs and create a plan to meet them, both in the hospital and at home. Our staff uses evidence-based screening tools to determine:
- Level of medical care in the Senior Emergency Center
- Admission for inpatient care
- Evaluation of medications to help ensure that all are necessary and compatible
- Changes at home to improve health and safety
In 2019, the center received accreditation from The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). With the bronze standard Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA), Atrium was the first hospital in the Cincinnati area to achieve a GEDA honor. Learn more.
