Hand Therapy
The Hand Therapy program at Premier Health is a specialized program designed to care for the specific needs of hand and entire upper extremity rehabilitation. The primary goal of the program is to help you, after injury or disease process, increase independence and return to life activities and roles.
Our comprehensive program provides services for those with both surgical and non-surgical hand and upper extremity injuries. We have a team of experienced occupational and certified hand therapists providing individualized treatment plans to address your needs.
If an injury or arthritis has limited the use of your shoulder, upper arm, forearm, wrist, hand, or fingers, fingers or hands, our special Hand Therapy program can help to restore function. This is often needed with the following conditions:
- Arthritis
- Burns
- Fractures
- Neuropathy
- Repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome
- Sprains
- Tendonitis
- Trauma or other injuries
What You Can Expect
Our experienced team of board-certified hand therapists will evaluate your injury or problem and create a custom treatment plan for your specific needs, which may include:
- Custom splinting/bracing
- Edema (swelling) control
- Exercise for motion, dexterity, and/or strength
- Joint protection techniques
- Scar management
- Manual therapy
- Sensory re-education
- Work simulation/hardening
- Wound care

- Cold laser
- Electric stimulation
- Fluidotherapy
- Therapeutic ultrasound
