Cancer Physical Therapy
Cancer physical therapy is a skilled rehabilitation service that can address functional limitations, which may affect your quality of life. Physical therapy may help improve:
- Chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy
- Cancer-related fatigue
- Impaired mobility Impaired balance
- Dizziness
- Joint pain
- Pelvic pain and incontinence
Some chemotherapy medications can cause peripheral neuropathy, including dizziness, numbness, tingling, and weakness. Our specially trained physical therapists can help you improve your mobility and strength, reducing your fall risk.
Cancer-related fatigue is another side effect of cancer treatments and cancer itself. Your physical therapist can work with you to help improve fatigue by addressing strength deficits, endurance, and sleeping habits through different therapeutic techniques focused on energy conservation.
Those with pelvic cancer may experience bladder and/or bowel incontinence or pelvic pain and may benefit from treatment with our highly trained pelvic health physical therapists. These therapists assist with pelvic floor muscle retraining and coordination, implement various manual techniques, and help develop individualized exercise programs to alleviate symptoms.
A Physician Order Is Not Required
The state of Ohio Physical Therapy Practice Act and Premier Health both allow patients to be seen via Direct Access. That means no physician order is required.
However, some insurance companies require a physician order, so check with your insurance plan or ask our team to assist you.
