Brethen Center for Robotic Education
The Brethen Center for Surgical Advancement in Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery provides all Premier Health physicians and residents opportunities for surgical simulation training. Located on the ground floor of the Berry Building at Miami Valley Hospital, the center houses da Vinci robots, ROSATM robots, mannequins and other simulation equipment.
Whether you are a resident or staff physician wanting to learn a new technique or hone skills for an upcoming case, you can gain hands-on experience with minimally invasive or robotic-assisted procedures in the following specialties:
- Neurology
- Gynecology
- Urology
- Thoracic Surgery
- Colorectal surgery
- General Surgery
We also offer training for clinical staff who assist with robotic surgery, including robotic program coordinators, first assistants and operating room staff.
Robotic Systems at the Brethen Center
The da Vinci Surgical System offers 3D real-time training for a variety of procedures, including prostatectomies, hysterectomies, myomectomies and valve repair. The dual-console robot digitally connects to the operating room, allowing real-time training with “patient” vitals on a simulation mannequin or a cadaver.
ROSA Brain and ROSA Spine are minimally invasive robotic surgical assistants that help increase precision and reach in delicate brain and spine surgeries.
You also can schedule a surgical laparoscopic virtual reality simulation.
