The Barbershop Health Initiative (BHI) is a program designed to address health disparities in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic conditions within the African American community. Through preventive health screenings, health coaching and educational outreach, and patient navigation, the program aims to improve early detection and chronic disease prevention while also building strong relationships between community members and health care providers.

Premier Community Health has partnered with barbershops and beauty salons in Butler County and Montgomery County, and continues to expand its footprint. Our partners include:

Barbershops and beauty salons are trusted hubs within the community and through this initiative, we collaborate with our partners, equipping them with the tools and resources they need to support their communities. Additionally, Premier Community Health offers voluntary health care services inside the barbershops or salons, at no cost. These services and health screenings may include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) calculation, and a non-fasting fingerstick that measures total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1C. The opportunity to meet with a lifestyle coach and have a tailored conversation regarding screening values and discuss strategies on how to improve health, is also available.

Registration Details

Registration not required. Walk-ins will be accepted upon a first come, first serve basis.
