If you have had an X-ray or CT scan that indicates a spot on your lung — or if you have symptoms that require further investigation — our advanced imaging technology at Premier Health helps us diagnose or rule out lung cancer.

These technologies offer precise navigation and ability to access difficult-to-reach areas:

  • CT scan (CT) guided biopsy: CT helps to guide and insert a hollow needle through the skin to draw out tissue or fluid from the lung for testing. A biopsy can help us rule out lung cancer or determine the type and stage of cancer.
  • Bronchoscopy: Your doctor inserts a flexible tube into your lung to look at the passageways in your lungs and evaluate whether you have lung cancer. Your doctor can also take a small tissue sample (biopsy) for further study.
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS): Ultrasound guidance allows for a better examination of the lymph nodes and other structures in the center of the chest.
  • Electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) or superDimensionTM Navigation System ENB: This diagnostic procedure is used to reach tumors that cannot be reached with a routine bronchoscopy, such as tumors located on the outside edges of the lungs where smaller bronchi are not wide enough to allow passage of a normal bronchoscope. It is used to obtain biopsies as an alternative to CT-guided biopsy.
  • Robotic bronchoscopy: The Monarch™ Platform uses robotic-assisted technology so pulmonary specialists can navigate and search the delicate, distant branches of the lung and obtain tissue samples from hard-to-reach nodules for biopsy. Robotic bronchoscopy provides improved reach, vision, and control for viewing the inside of the airways, offering the potential for earlier diagnosis and treatment for lung cancer.
